A friend sent me this bug concerning Ubuntu on laptops. I played a bit with hdparm & smartclt, which for my FUJITSU MHT2060AT gave me a load_cycle_count of 3229, however I’m using the laptop mostly connected to AC power.

sudo hdparm -I /dev/sda
sudo apt-get install smartmontools
sudo smartctl -d ata -a /dev/sda

A colleague just pointed me to another post on the issue.
