If you have an ubuntu machine w/o an internet connection and you want to install packages, do the following:
sudo apt-get -qq --print-uris install _name-of-package_ | cut -d\' -f 2 > urilist
This will create a list of files needed. Take it with you (usb stick…) to a machine that has internet connection, then do:
wget -i urilist
This will download all the needed files. Now take this back to the first machine and do:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
