mount iso as repository

leave a comment »

I have downloaded the ubuntu hardy iso and want to use it to upgrade my machines (at least one offline) without clogging my bandwidth. The solution is:

  1. mount the iso: sudo mount <path to iso file> <mount point> -o loop
  2. add using apt-cdrom: sudo apt-cdrom -m -d <mount point> add
  3. update package list: sudo aptitude update
