A new package in Intrepid is the system-cleaner, the result of the CleanupCruft blueprint.

Description: clean up a system so it’s more like a freshly installed one

system-cleaner finds and removes cruft from a system. Cruft is (currently) packages that apt marks as automatically removable, or that Ubuntu no longer supports.

On my system (clean install intrepid since a6) it removed 3 old linux-header packages and 3 old libraries, and recommended that I add the “relatime” parameter to a mounted filesystem, but it also wanted to remove my pidgin-facebookchat package, which has been installed from the web… All in all it freed 134MB of disk space
