fix firefox 3.6 permissions

with one comment

If Firefox fails to start on Ubuntu 9.10/10.04 with the following errors:

/usr/lib/firefox-3.6/firefox: 59: dirname: Permission denied
/usr/lib/firefox-3.6/firefox: 88: /bin/pwd: Permission denied

The problem is with AppArmor settings. The fix is to add two lines in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox-3.6 (somewhere under the section starting with “# These are needed when a new user starts firefox and firefox.sh is used“):

  /usr/bin/dirname ixr,
  /usr/bin/pwd ixr,

Then reload AppArmor: sudo invoke-rc.d apparmor reload
