.eml vs .msg

The .eml file format is a plaintext MIME (rfc822) file format for storing emails, used by MS Outlook Express, Windows Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird. Instead, .msg is a compound file binary format based on Microsoft’s Outlook MAPI.
