Customizing GDM

To change the GDM (i.e. login screen) icon theme and background image in Ubuntu, you can use the following commands:

sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme --type string ubuntu-mono-dark
sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename --type string /usr/share/backgrounds/Life_by_Paco_Espinoza.jpg
