dpkg parse error in file /var/lib/dpkg/available
If you get the following error (or something similar):
dpkg: parse error, in file '/var/lib/dpkg/available' near line 14660 package 'virtualbox': error in Version string `1.6.2-31466_Ubuntu_hardy': invalid character in revision number
just run sudo dpkg –clear-avail
